An afternoon well spent getting saucy with Stonewall Kitchen
Have you been to the newest location of the Drake hotel restaurants? Drake Commissary is located in Toronto's west end neighbourhood and it's known to be a culinary workshop because everything is made in-house using local ingredients. It's definitely a hip spot (just like the other Drake locations) with a bright and open patio out front. Yes, they have the old school photobooth in this location too!
My first visit was a special one as I was attending a dinner with Stonewall Kitchen to check out some of the best BBQ sauces that Chef Ted would be creating recipes with.
If you spend time in the kitchen, or if you're in sauces like me, you would have definitely seen or heard of Stonewall Kitchen - the cute little jars with handwritten labels. Jonathan and Jim began their journey selling homemade jams at a local farmer's markets and festivals. The small company grew with more addition of more delicious sauces, condiments as well as baking mixes! We're talking Bourbon Bacon Jam, Ghost Pepper Aioli, and Truffle Ketchup just to name a few that's caught my eye.
Ok, I'm going to focus on the four sauces that we had because I can go on with a list of products from their website that I am dying to try :) I'll let you explore on your own for that: click here.
My fave sauce: Boozy Bacon BBQ Sauce
Ted used the four sauces from Stonewall Kitchen for a mouth watering feast for our group. I personally love cooking and eating shrimp so I naturally had grabbed seconds of these Boozy Bacon Roasted Argentinean Shrimp. Oh, and the sauce says "boozy" - how am I going to pass on that?
This BBQ sauce has onions, bits of bacon, spices and hints of bourbon (yea, you heard me). It's a great sauce to rub on not only seafood like shrimp but meats: chicken, beef, and pork!
Check out the other 3 sauces used for the other kick-ass recipes below.
Summer is here and it's BBQ season! Take advantage of these delicious sauces from Stonewall kitchen for your next one.
